Water Testing Group – Monday Nights @ 7:00 Discovery Lab ECB
EWB
UW has been working on the water quality and quantity in Muramba for
five years. Over the past few trips, we’ve implemented a water
catchment system and a biomass filter as well as run piping to the
village from a nearby spring.
Most villagers use yellow plastic
jerry cans to transport their water from a water source to their homes.
Unfortunately, most of these containers are completely black on the
inside due to mold and mildew.
This semester we would like to find a way to clean the village’s many jerry cans.
In
addition, we’ll also be looking into making small scale biosand filters
which can be used in the people’s homes. Come to our first meeting to
learn more!
