The University of Wisconsin-Madison Engineers Without Borders invites you to join us for a Banquet on Thursday, April 10th at 5:30pm in the Memorial Union Great Hall. The EWB-UW Annual Banquet is a means to inform and inspire our past donors, UW professors, companies, and other interested members of our community about our organization.
The Engineers Without Borders team at Madison is a student run non-profit organization dedicated to improve the quality of life for our partners in the local, national, and international communities through sustainable development projects. These projects train students through hands on experiences and leadership roles tobe more knowledgeable and conscientious about the international community and sustainable development. We consist mainly of dedicated engineering students and mentors, but we are actively pursuing students and mentors from outside of engineering.
Professors:
The Banquet will be a means to inform UW professors about our organization in hopes of building stronger networking ties and cross disciplinary participation in EWB service learning projects. We are actively pursuing students and mentors from within and outside of engineering for fundraising, grant writing, engineering design, video editing, languages, and many other leadership positions.
Companies:
The Banquet will encourage companies to become more involved with our projects, and allow companies to scout out talented and motivated students from UW-Madison. Companies purchasing a table will receive recognition on our website.
Community:
The Banquet will inspire the local community about our local, national, and international projects and also inform the community about how they can take action to support and strengthen the EWB team. We are hoping to build lasting partnerships within the local community.
Our chapter has been active since 2003 and already has projects in Rwanda, El Salvador, Kenya, New Orleans for hurricane Katrina, Madison, and more projects are being proposed. These projects are focused on distributing larger quantities of water to the communities, purifying water, improving infrastructure, harnessing renewable energy, sanitizing waste, and increasing food supplies through aquaculture.
